Name:
Brittle Bone Disease

Cause:
Congenital bone development disorder

Effects:
Dwarfism, frequent bone fractures, severe deformation of the spinal column with effects on the internal organs such as lungs, heart etc. bone distensions owning to profusive callus formation.

Consequence:
The injuries to the epiphyseal fusions in the bones owing to the frequent fractures in childhood result in shorter arms and legs. Even banal falls or inadequate strain hold the risk of new bone fractures.

Supplying a car:
The steering column, the steering wheel, the accelerator and the brake controls must be in a special position with the appropriate support for steering and braking. Owing to the constant danger of further fractures it is not advisable to transfer from the wheelchair to the driver's seat. The scoliosis (curvature of the spine) affects the sitting posture and therefore the balance when driving around bends.
